VOG APOSTILLE & TRANSLATION
VOG Apostille &
sworn translation.
Need to use your Dutch VOG in another language? An Apostille and a sworn translation are separate steps. The correct order depends on what the receiving authority asks you to submit.
What has the receiving
authority requested?
Do not assume that “translated and Apostilled” always means the same document sequence. Start with the exact instructions you received.
Apostille on the original VOG
Your authority requires authentication of the original Dutch Certificate of Conduct before it is used abroad.

Your authority needs the VOG in another language and has specified an official or sworn translation.

Some routes require an additional authentication step for the sworn translation as a separate document.
Translation Apostille guide →One route, in the
right document order.
The purpose of the route check is to avoid translating or authenticating the wrong version of the document.
Confirm the destination requirements
We start with the country, purpose and exact instructions from the employer, immigration authority or other receiving organisation.
Complete the original VOG step
If an Apostille is required on the original Dutch VOG, that document step is coordinated as part of the selected route.
Add translation where required
A sworn translation and, where specifically required, a separate Apostille step for the translation can then be coordinated before return delivery.
Four documents or steps
people often confuse.
Keeping these separate makes it easier to understand what the foreign authority is actually asking you to provide.

Unsure which document needs which step?
Send the destination, purpose and the wording you received from the foreign authority. VOG Assist can review the practical Dutch-side sequence before the documents are processed. VOG Assist is an independent specialist service.
Need both a VOG Apostille and translation?
Start with your destination and the requirements you have received. The relevant Apostille, sworn translation and return-delivery steps can then be combined into one route.
