UNDERSTAND THE DOCUMENT
What is a
Dutch VOG?
A Dutch VOG — Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag — is the Netherlands’ official Certificate of Conduct.
Justis assesses whether a person’s past conduct presents an objection to the specific role, activity or purpose stated in the application.
A VOG is commonly requested for work, immigration, visas, citizenship and professional registration. For use abroad, additional document steps may be required.

WHEN A VOG IS REQUESTED
Why apply for a
Dutch VOG?
A VOG is often requested because an employer, authority or professional body abroad needs reassurance before your next step can move forward.
Starting work abroad
A foreign employer or onboarding team may ask for a Dutch police certificate before confirming your role.
Visa, residence or citizenship
An immigration authority can request a recent Dutch VOG as part of a visa, residence or naturalisation file.
Professional registration
A regulator, university or licensing body may request one when you apply for registration or recognition abroad.
Not sure whether your situation needs only a VOG, or also an apostille, sworn translation or delivery abroad?

VOG AssistFREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Clear answers,
before you begin.
Every route starts with the purpose for which the VOG is required and the country where it will be used.
A Dutch VOG, or Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag, is an official Certificate of Conduct. Justis assesses whether any relevant past conduct could be an objection for the specific purpose stated in the application.
Yes. In many cases, the application can be prepared and submitted remotely. Once the original VOG is issued, it is received by VOG Assist so we can arrange the Apostille, translation and international delivery where required.
Yes. Former Dutch residents can apply through the procedure for applicants living outside the Netherlands. The correct route depends on your situation and the purpose for which the VOG is required.
Processing times depend on the application route and assessment. Once the original VOG has been issued, an Apostille, sworn translation and courier delivery can usually be arranged within approximately one additional week.
That depends on the country and receiving authority. An Apostille confirms the authenticity of the Dutch signature for use abroad. Your employer, authority or receiving organisation should confirm whether it is required.
A translation is only needed when the receiving authority requires the VOG in another language. Where required, we coordinate a sworn translation and, if necessary, an Apostille on the translated document.
Yes. If you already have the original VOG, we can coordinate only the steps still required, such as an Apostille, sworn translation or DHL Express delivery.
